DANBY TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION 

 

REGULAR MEETING 

OCTOBER 20, 2010 

 

Prior notice of the meeting having been posted, the meeting of the Danby Township 
Planning Commission was called to order at 7:05 p.m. at the Danby Township Hall, 
13122 Charlotte Highway. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 

Roll Call – Members Present: Austin, Bahr, Brown, and McCormack. 

Members Absent: Kolarik, Moore, and Russman, 

 

Public: Jeanne Vandersloot and Don Remboski. 

 

Appoint Acting Chair: Motion to appoint Bahr as Chair for tonight’s meeting in the 
absence of both Chairman Russman and Vice Chair Kolarik was brought by McCormack 
and seconded by Brown. Motion carried. 

 

Minutes and Agenda: Motion to approve the August 18, 2010 Minutes and Agenda 
as presented was brought by Brown and seconded by McCormack. Motion carried. 

 

Public Comment: Brown stated that he had been approached by some township 
residents with questions regarding building construction on Okemos Road. Ms. 
Vandersloot stated that she would follow up on this construction. 

 

2011 Meeting Schedule: Motion to set the next PC meeting for January 19, 2011 and 
to table the setting of the 2011 meeting schedule until a full quorum was in attendance 
was brought by Bahr and seconded by McCormack. Motion carried. 

 

Other Business: McCormack stated that the medical marijuana issue has been the 
subject of the news media recently and inquired whether the PC should be looking into 
this issue to determine what the requirements are for the new law and whether we 
should be looking at any possible zoning issues with regards to it. Ms. Vandersloot 
stated that this has been a topic in some of her other townships and she recently 
reviewed information on the subject from the MTA website. She will prepare something 
for us to review at our next meeting. 

 

Public Comment: None. 

 

Announcements: Next meeting will be held January 19, 2011. 

 

Adjournment: Motion to adjourn was brought by Austin and seconded by Brown. 
Motion carried. Meeting was adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
